When DTG is the right call.

Choose DTG when the artwork has gradients, photographic detail or more colours than screen print can economically carry, or when you need a short run: a design test, a small team, a sample before committing to a larger screen printed order. There are no screens and no per-colour setup, so a run of 5 costs sensible money.

DTG works best on high-cotton garments in light and mid colours. On dark garments a white underbase is printed first, which we factor into the quote. For large runs of simple artwork, screen print usually wins on price; we will quote both when the numbers are close.

What buyers ask about dtg printing.

What is the minimum order for DTG printing?

DTG runs from a single unit. It is the method we use for samples and design tests. Per-unit pricing improves modestly with quantity, and screen print takes over on price for larger runs of simple artwork.

What garments suit DTG?

High-cotton tees, hoodies and sweats print best. AS Colour's combed cotton range is a favourite for DTG work. Polyester-heavy and performance fabrics usually suit sublimation or transfer instead.

How durable is a DTG print?

Good DTG holds up well through normal washing: cold wash, inside out, no tumble drying keeps it sharpest. For garments facing daily commercial laundering, embroidery or screen print is the more durable pick.
